In 2024, we expressed interest in the development of a social communication unit. To gain a permanent structure, we had to place in a temporary provision. This temporary provision was approved by the Education Authority to commence in September 2025. This consists of a Key Stage Two provision of four pupils.
We have developed our immediate outdoor space to support the Unit and pupils.
In December 2025, consultation was completed by all stakeholders and in February 2026 we received notification that two permanent classes will be in place.
We currently await the 'go ahead' to demolish an existing building to create a fit-for-purpose provision. Plans are currently in place but the green light hasn't been given yet.
Our temporary classroom is set in line with the Education Authority guidance.
We added a beautiful sensory corner to support the pupils' emotional regulation.

Our plans include the demolition of the house in the picture to create a permanent solution.

Our Social Communication Unit is an integrated part of our school, following the NI Curriculum and have the same opportunities as all other pupils. We do not see the provision as separate and pupils integrate fully with the whole school on a daily basis.
