We view our Nursery School as a ‘home from home’ and as such, a warm welcome is waiting for you from the Entrance Hall right in to both of the purpose built classrooms. Our learning environment is created and resourced in order to set a climate of purposeful and challenging learning, whilst at the same time, encouraging children to have fun in playful learning.

Our Indoor Classroom

Our Learning Environment changes all the time, always acting as the ‘third teacher’, inviting possibilities to develop the children’s ideas. At Taughmonagh Nursery, we believe that the stimulating, child centered surroundings we provide, encourage the children at our school to be motivated, life-long learners. We offer both natural and commercially bought resources which enables the children to awaken their curiosity for learning. Opportunities and activities are created for building, role play, technology and arts & crafts.

We also have a sheltered extension area the full width of the indoor building. Here the children are provided with even more sensory, scientific and imaginative play resources such as sand, water, musical instruments, natural resources and tools in order to enhance and support them in learning new things.

Our Outdoor Classroom 

We see all of our outdoor area as an extension of the learning environment at Taughmonagh Nursery School. Getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors is a vital element of daily play at Taughmonagh Nursery!

We have a multitude of spaces here at Taughmonagh. Planned with thought and precision, to provide opportunities to make connections with nature, to hide and seek, run and skip, climb and investigate, all of which enable our children to take measured risks, but in a safe and secure environment.

Our children can go on a bug hunt, slide down a hill, dig deep in the sand, jump in puddles, and create perfume and potions in the mud kitchen. Every nook and cranny is full of intrigue and adventure, so that our children can have the freedom and space to explore and investigate at their own pace.

Such is the richness of experiences that one day they will use the resources to build a ship for pirates whilst the next, they are looking at a snail through a magnifying glass. It is wonderful to watch children explore the world around them whilst being supported by highly trained early years practitioners.
